The Wise Woods Project

“Look deep into nature and you will understand everything better.”
―Einstein
About
The Wise Woods Project is an accessible, intergenerational woodland space for the community to gather, find stillness and to connect deeply with nature. It is a response to our disconnection from ourselves, from community and from the natural world.
Working with local collaborators, we offer weekly drop-in nature connection sessions, seasonal celebrations, workshops, therapy circles, and one-to-one sessions that aim to promote greater wellbeing and resilience.
In keeping with our ethos and values as a Community Interest Company, we will continue to operate this as a not-for-profit. This ensures that we can continue to keep our prices low and our offerings accessible to all.
Our vision
To inspire others to open up more community spaces that promote wellbeing in nature and to become part of a woodland-wide web of community spaces across the world that share resources, adapt and thrive together.
The Team
The Wise Woods project was set up by Michelle Hawkins-Collins and Sue Judge. Michelle is the founder of The Wisdom Space and a Gerontologist or specialist in ageing, supporting people to live more conscious and fulfilled lives which are full of meaning and purpose. Sue is a Director of The Wisdom Space, natural wellness coach, and nutritionist. Between them, they are also trained in many disciplines including meditation, mindfulness, holistic massage, positive psychology, and eco-psychology.
The location
We are co-located on the former Woodland Adventures forest school site in Quarry Hill, Box, Wiltshire and continue to build on the legacy of the land as a place for learning and wellbeing. We’re very grateful to the new owner for so generously inviting us to use this magical woodland with a dedicated space so that we demonstrate the impact we can make to people’s lives, to the community, and to the stewardship of the land.
The offerings
We’re starting small and growing sustainably so have launched with our first workshop series of seasonal celebrations celebrating the eight turning points of the year and honouring our connection with nature and its cycles. These have been beautiful gatherings with incredible feedback.
“What a wonderful, nourishing, meaningful, and sacred day of sharing, connection, and surrender in the woodland’s magical and safe community space held so beautifully by both of you, the wise trees, cleansing winds, and grounding earth.
It really is such an amazing gift that you are offering and so so needed.”
After a successful trial, we are now running weekly nature-connection drop-in sessions throughout the year to experience nature in all her forms. Our Mindful Mondays run from 10-11.30 and are the perfect way to start your week. Our Wild Wednesdays run from 10-12pm and offer a chance to go deeper using eco-therapy as a way to uncover greater inner wisdom. There is no committment and we remain committed to donation based events to make these affordable on-going with concessionary spaces available.
